Easter cake or Pascua cake

INGREDIENTS
- 1 tray of La Granja Traditional Sponge Cake
- Eggs and chocolate figurines from La Granja
- 500 ml whole milk
- 4 egg yolks
- 100 g white sugar
- 50 g cornstarch (cornflour)
- Fruits of your choice (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries…)
ELABORATION
- Prepare the pastry cream: In a glass, dissolve 50 ml of cold milk with the cornstarch. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until well combined. Then, pour the mixture into a saucepan along with the cornstarch and the remaining 450 ml of milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the cream thickens. Let it rest until it cools down to room temperature.
- Cut the tray of La Granja Original Sponge Cake into the shape of the animal you like best. We made it in the shape of an Easter bunny.
- Transfer the pastry cream into a piping bag to decorate the sponge cake. Make sure to cover the entire surface so the fruit can be placed on top.
- Slice the fruits of your choice and, together with La Granja chocolate eggs, decorate the cake however you like.
- You can also add Easter decorations such as feathers or little chicks, the more imagination, the better!
